So we’ve established the the compressor is the heart. Well, the thermostat is the brain. It controls the system by telling it when to turn off and on. Well, maybe it’s not exactly like human anatomy. Your brain wouldn’t tell your heart to stop working but you get the picture.

These components can fail and lead to bigger problems. The condensate line can rust and crack or cause your system to shutdown by tripping the float switch.

Monsoons can even cause your condensate line to come out of its socket (although, this is largely due to poor installation). It doesn’t hurt to check your condensate line for blockage every once in a while. Especially after heavy winds!

While these aren’t electrical components, they are very important. Having leaky or dirty ducts can waste energy and cause your home to not get to the desired temp set on the thermostat. This will cause your ac system to run for long durations and drive up your energy bill.

Insulation is also very important. Without proper insulation your home simply won’t stay cool and this also leads to higher-than-needed energy bills.
